About
About County News Beat
County governments decide zoning, budgets, roads, parks, jails and health programs in public meetings, and they publish the agendas. Those agendas are hard to watch: each county has its own calendar, and the items are buried in long lists. County News Beat puts them in one place and lets you watch for the words you care about.
What it is
- An index of county meetings and agenda items, read from each county's public Legistar record every 30 minutes.
- Every item is shown as the county published it and credited to that county, with links to the official agenda, minutes, video and meeting page when the county posts them.
- A private Beat Sheet that follows counties and watch words. No account, no email.
What it is not
- Not news reporting: nothing here is written about any item, and nothing is summarised or rewritten by a person or by AI.
- Not a county government, not Granicus (which makes Legistar), and not connected to NACo or any county association.
- Not the official record. Agendas change, meetings are moved or cancelled, and the copy here is read every 30 minutes, so it can be behind. Check the county's own document before you rely on anything, and before you travel to a meeting.
Who runs it
County News Beat is built and maintained by WeldonPC. It runs by itself: no staff choose or edit what appears. Its public reading pages show one banner ad from adengine.us, WeldonPC's own small ad network, below the content; the ad never changes which meetings or items appear or their order (Privacy says what it loads).
